Since 2013, we’ve built the standard lenders rely on for accurate, defensible income analysis.
Blueprint exists to solve one problem, and we’ve never let ourselves get distracted from it. The problem is inconsistent and erroneous income calculations in the mortgage industry.
Before co-founding Blueprint, Michael Whitbeck spent years training underwriters and loan officers across the industry — and kept watching the same guideline get read ten different ways by ten different people. Not from carelessness. From a lack of any better way to do it. Spreadsheets, memory, and judgment calls were the whole toolkit.
That gap — between what a guideline says and what a person decides under pressure — is the only problem Blueprint has ever tried to solve.
We didn’t expand into full document automation, loan automation, or chase other vertical markets. We stayed narrow on purpose. Being the best at income analysis means being obsessed with income analysis, and nothing else.
SOC 2 Type 2 is table stakes. Every serious vendor has it.
We went further: our audit scope includes Processing Integrity — independent verification that our income calculations themselves are accurate, not just that our systems are secure and available. Fewer than 10% of SOC 2 Type 2 companies take on that additional scrutiny.
We did this, because “secure” isn’t the same promise as “correct.”
In the mortgage industry, only “correct” keeps a loan off a buyback list.

Co-Founder & Underwriting Director Mike spent years training underwriters and loan officers on income guidelines from the inside — the room where a guideline meets a real file and a deadline. That's where the idea for IncomeXpert came from: not a theory about automation, but a career spent watching good underwriters make their best guess with the tools they had.

Co-Founder & Technical Director David co-founded Blueprint in 2013 after a career engineering safety-critical systems — first in automotive electronics, later architecting the safety frameworks behind autonomous vehicles at Uber and Aurora. He brought that same rigor to mortgage income analysis: turning a process built on individual judgment into one built on repeatable, defensible outcomes.
